We Pledge to be a Safe and Responsible On-Line Citizen!
Grades 3 - 5 Digital Citizenship Course
Dear Families,
At Polo Ridge Elementary we work with our students to be responsible, safe, and respectful citizens in the world. We believe it is just as important for our students to develop those same qualities in the digital world. Since technology is part of our school, play, and everyday lives, children need to understand how to safeguard their personal information, how to treat others respectfully, and how to act responsibly while using any technology device.
We are using the curriculum from Common Sense Media to engage our students in discussions and activities that will empower them to make good decisions when using technology. Our hope is that every student in Kindergarten through 5th grade at Polo Ridge will become a responsible digital citizen. In order to accomplish this goal, each year students in Grades K- 2 will receive at least 2 hours, and students in Grades 3 - 5 will receive at least 5 hours, of instruction on how to become a responsible digital citizen.

Families Managing Media
In the past, we have had a speaker visit our school from Families Managing Media. Everyone who attended the workshop was overwhelmed with the wonderful information Melanie Hempe presented about children's brain development and the effects of screens on the overall child. Learn more about this topic on their very informative website. www.familiesmanagingmedia.com
